If you have read any of my posts you will quickly notice a recurring theme throughout all of them. I’ll give you three guesses…. That’s right, and on the first try! Wow y’all are good at this! I’m always talking about this Jesus guy and using quotes from his bestselling book. You may have heard of it too, it’s called the Bible. Yes you’ve heard of it? It’s my go to all the time.
All jokes aside I figured I should explain why I’m always talking about this guy and the stuff he says. I’m a Christian and proud of that fact. Not in the sense that I want to boast about what a good person I am. In fact this means quite the opposite. It means that I have acknowledged that I’m not perfect and I need someone else’s help. The problem is that when I look around I just see a bunch of other imperfect-people who are also in need of someones help. Most of us try our best to get by on our own and use our own strength to “muscle” our way through life. However, that’s not the way it’s supposed to work, we were designed with a purpose and a plan for our lives in mind.
Instead of looking around though, we should be looking up to the mountains. (Psalm 121: 1-2) People search their whole lives for the thing that will complete them or fulfill them. Always in search of the answer to that question, “Why am I here?” The answer is, Jesus. (Yes I know all of you fellow Christians are now thinking about that song, but I’m not stopping the explanation here-don’t worry)
I believe that we were all born imperfect and that there is a God who created the world, and each and every one of us. I also believe that we live in a world infected by sin though, and that each of us is born into a life of sin with a pre-disposition towards a sinful nature. I further believe that all of us would be permanently separated from God, without his gift of grace through his son Jesus. Our purpose on earth is to serve God, and be an example of his love. His son shows us how to do that by his example. Jesus came down on to earth and was fully man and fully God and led a perfect life, and died on a cross to save us from our sins. We deserved death but God had mercy, and so he offered up his son as a sacrifice holy and pure. He was perfect and lived a life completely free of sin. When he died he took the punishment for all sin, he died the death that we all deserve. However because he took the blame for us we don’t have to be separated from God anymore. All we have to do is call on his name and we will be saved. (Romans 10:13) We can’t work our way into heaven. No act of our own will get us there. So we have to accept the gift that Jesus freely offers to us instead. Let me just say that it is one awesome gift!
In Jesus there is hope for a future (Jeremiah 29:11-13) and if that doesn’t turn your lemons in to Lemonade then I don’t know what will. He brings peace and comfort and is like the best best friend that you could ever imagine. He is always there for you. All he asks is that you follow him and all of these things and more will be yours. ♥
So, yeah, that’s a brief summary of my Jesus, and if you want to know more or don’t understand something then feel free to leave a comment below!
